The ISHY - "the First Class Lounge of yoga" - a special intimate space deep in the heart of Notting hIll

I created The ISHY originally as my private practice space for me to deepen my practices and then I thought something this special and unique just had to be shared with other lovely folk.  I want you to get the mos t from your practice at the ISHY, in small intimate groups or individually that gives you individual attention: to have the time to explore where you hold your tensions and how to release them; to gain insight into how our thoughts, patterns of behaviour and conditioning literally create our reality and how to unhook from these and create a better reality; to develop the ability to trust in yourself and your life's path; to promote greater health particularly in your nervous system, strong bones and flexible/toned muscles whilst deepening your ability to focus and be present.

The ISHY isn't a formal yoga centre which are ultimately big businesses and tend to be crowded and busy, with by necessity I guess, "stack them high" rationales, not unlike super markets.  The ISHY is instead a home infused throughout with yoga, which some journalists are kindly calling "The First Class Lounge of yoga".  I keep the classes purposely intimate - 4-10 mats (depending on the time of the day/night) in a space that could comfortably take 18.

The practice space is fully equipped, with wall ropes, underfloor heating, far infrared heat and is dedicated the entire lower ground floor of my family home in the heart of Notting Hill, with its own changing room/shower/toilet. There is natural light and views across my garden and the trees of the shared communal garden beyond. In the cold of winter, evening classes are adorned with soft candle light and open fires.  Some of the classes on the schedule are purposely heated to high temperatures to encourage more detoxification of the body and deeper opening and release.

Private one-to-ones and couples classes at The ISHY are also available

The ISHY is situated at 96 Lansdowne Road, Notting Hill, London W11 2LS - nearest tube lines are Ladbroke Grove or Holland Park.

HOW IT GOT IT'S NAME:

"Ishy" was a nickname i called my son when he was first born.  Then when I was looking for a name for the practice space and website,  I wanted a name that didn't have any "associations" to it, as the moment you mention "yoga" folk go to different places in their heads, beliefs etc. over what that is.  I wanted a name that had space to grow and develop into something new and unique.  I later found out that the word "Ishy" means "awesome", so that seemed to be an auspicious, synchronistic, cool thing, too.
