I made a decision in the Summer to pull out of my big studio classes at triyoga and the triyoga teacher training specifically to focus on teaching what i'm passionate about, ex of any generalised 'hatha' yoga labelling which is truly a misnomer nowadays. I just wasn't enjoying the madness and dogma of the commercial yoga world. Right now for me, I'm liking small and doing my own thing, maybe that's a growing up thing - the lessening need to prove oneself and to conform, or maybe it's about coming back to who/what you really are and your roots. The creative in me is truly enjoying running a more atelier style working life: no more exhausting travelling all over London, instead teaching folk who have the drive and passion to come to me, giving them real quality time with different modalities to suit their needs in a peaceful beautiful space with green grass beyond the garden gate. This is how i learnt my practices: becoming a master through apprencticeship and dedication to one teacher for a certain period of time, regular practices and a bit of hard graft every now and again.
The only regular class I'm still teaching will be at Soho triyoga on a Wednesday night - I still really enjoy the energy there in the Soho centre and the folk who come are amazing and make me grow too.
WEDNESDAY - triyoga Soho - 6.15pm - 7.30pm - all levels
After a day's work it's important to stretch the body out from the usual sitting/standing positions we've held much of our day as we crouch over a computer or stand up for long periods of time - all this tightens muscles in our lower backs, weakens our abdominal muscles and creates tension in our internal organs which get compressed by bad posture. It's also important to work the body - gone are the days of manual labour working in a field - bodies love to work out and it's important de-stressor especially with the enormous buiild up of physical and mental stress a person picks up throughout their day. At the very least this class helps re-balance and unwinds the mind through a simple meditation practice ready for a relaxing night ahead and a good sleep.
